Earth Day today

We had an active Earth Day today at both the junior and senior school sides.

The senior school had an assembly hosted and run by 78, 88 and room 303 students.

Here is the introductory Earth Day power point that was presented by Bryan and Rhys (grade 8). Click here.

Then, Me to We gave us an update on all of the fund raising accomplishments and plans for this year.

Then we viewed a few films about Plastiki, David De Rothschild's reaction to the waste produced by using plastic bottles.

Here's a sample from youtube: Plastiki and a bit more about the production/use of the bottles
here.

Then we had Devon and Taylor (78) sharing the school's plan to clean up Toronto Friday at 2 p.m.

Abagail, Cole and Khalid shared a quiz that they made using Power Point.

And finally, Grade 8 Green team members told the audience about LEAVE YOUR MARK - an initiative that the school is doing.
Each student is asked to choose ONE action that they want to do in order to make a difference on his/her impact on the Earth.
Thanks to Justin (computer) and Simon (audio/visual se-up) for the technical help.

The junior school already has its tree up.
Many other ecologically minded activities and classes posted their work in the halls!

Here a little summary of just a few of those environmental actions today.

The theme of our school this term is: Our actions affect everyone around us.
